Asbestos survey & testing
Required on all structures built before the year 2000, there are three principal types of asbestos survey, subject to subsequent plans for the site in question. Whichever type of asbestos survey is required, Decontaminate can provide full technical support and procurement of UKAS accredited surveys.
Most common asbestos survey
Asbestos management survey
Without damaging the structure of the building in question, an asbestos management survey provides property owners, managers and maintenance teams with a full report on the extent and nature of asbestos present within the fabric of the building — and how best to maintain its safety. This service includes all asbestos sampling and testing, a full asbestos report and register, plus a detailed asbestos management plan.
Asbestos refurbishment & demolition survey
Carried out once the scope of all prospective refurbishment, building or demolition works has been established, this option is a more invasive survey, designed to identify all ACMs present within walls, flooring, ceilings and roofs. As asbestos can be hidden deep within the fabric of a building, such surveys are more disruptive and destructive in nature, allowing full access to all areas to provide an accurate report on any ACMs that may otherwise lie undetected.
Re-inspection survey
To ensure compliance with the “Duty to manage” stipulations stated in Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, dutyholders (those responsible for the upkeep and management of the building) are required to provide a full re-inspection asbestos survey, conducted 12 months after the initial asbestos management survey, to ensure the effective management of all ACMs originally identified.
