Project details
Lowndes House is a Grade II listed mansion house in Belgravia that was built in the mid-19th Century. The new owner of Lowndes House planned to undertake a complete refurbishment of the property which included replacement of existing services.
An asbestos survey identified the presence of asbestos thermal insulation to internal heating pipework from the basement through to the second floor. The Decontaminate team were required to provide protection to all heritage items within the building including floors, stairs and balustrades. It was necessary to remove certain fixtures and fittings to enable access to work, which was carried out with care by our in-house carpentry team.
All asbestos thermal insulation was safely removed under fully controlled conditions taking time to trace each pipe through the building.
Project constraints
- ensuring that heritage items were protected
- removal of fixtures and fittings that were to be re-used
- provision of temporary power.
